Lighton gave a talk at the 2021 ACM/IEEE Joint Conference on Digital Libraries (JCDL 2021) conference that was hosted by the School of Information Sciences of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Our submission to JCDL 2021, titled "Improved Discoverability of Digital Objects in Institutional Repositories Using Controlled Vocabularies" has been accepted and will be presented during the upcoming JCDL 2021 conference.
Lighton gave an invited talk at the Deep Learning Indaba X - Zambia 2021 that was held virtually, due to the Global Pandemic The event was on May 25, 2021. The Deep Learning Indaba (DLI) is an organisation whose mission is to Strengthen Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence in Africa.
We have a total of 20 final-year undergraduate students working on projects related to what we do as a research group. All the new students are supervised by faculty staff associated with the lab.
Lighton gave a talk at the IST-Africa 2021 conference that was hosted by the Government of South Africa through the Department of Science and Innovation and supported by the European Commission (EC) and African Union Commission (AUC). The event was be held between May 10--14, 2021, and is the sixteenth (16th) in an annual series of Ministerial Level Technology Research and Innovation Conferences.
Our submission to IST-Africa 2021, titled "Effective Ingestion of Digital Objects in Institutional Repositories Using Subject Repositories" has been accepted and will be presented during the upcoming IST-Africa 2021 conference.
Our journal article, submitted to the International Journal of Metadata, Semantics and Ontologies has been published in the journal's "2020 Volume 14 Issue No. 3" issue.
We have a group of four (4) students joining our research group this year:
