"Effective Ingestion of Digital Objects in Institutional Repositories Using Subject Repositories" Accepted to IST-Africa 2021

Our submission to IST-Africa 2021, titled "Effective Ingestion of Digital Objects in Institutional Repositories Using Subject Repositories" has been accepted and will be presented during the upcoming IST-Africa 2021 conference

The paper is primarily based on research conducted in a capstone project by a group of undergraduate students---Mathews Mbewe, Mathews Mwewa, Moonga Habukali, Nandi Sikazindu and Nozyenji Mwale. The premise of the paper is simple: the use of Subject Institutional Repositories is demonstrated as a potentially effective way of ingesting digital objects into Institutional Repositories. The paper demonstrates the feasibility of using subject Institutional Repositories by outlining how a Subject Institutional Repository was set up for the Department of Library and Information Science at The University of Zambia. In addition, the paper further outlines that subject Institutional repositories have the potential to facilitate usable ingestion workflows.

IST-Africa 2021 will be hosted by the Government of South Africa through the Department of Science and Innovation and Supported by the European Commission (EC) and African Union Commission (AUC). The event will be held between May 10--14, 2021, and is the sixteenth in an annual series of Ministerial Level Technology Research and Innovation Conferences.
