We are excited to share the wonderful news of our successful participation in the prestigious Pan African Conference on Science, Computing, and Telecommunications (PACT) held at the Confucius Institute, University of Zambia, Great East Campus. This event marked a significant milestone in our research journey and provided a platform to showcase our innovative contributions to the field of medical imaging and technology.
A Glimpse into Our Research
Our team presented two student abstract papers at PACT 2023:
1. Student Abstract Paper: "Software Tools for Supporting Automatic Interpretation of Medical Images"
This paper focused on the development of extensions and plugins tailored for DICOM viewers, specifically Weasis, Dicoogle, and Orthanc. These enhancements aimed to empower these viewers with automated support for medical image interpretation through advanced algorithms, including deep learning, computer vision, and pattern recognition.
2. Student Abstract Paper: "Large Scale Analysis of Medical Image Metadata"
Our second paper delved into the large-scale analysis of medical image metadata. We explored innovative ways to leverage metadata for better understanding and utilization of medical images. This research opens up new possibilities for improving the management, retrieval, and analysis of medical images, ultimately enhancing healthcare outcomes.
A Resounding Success at PACT 2023
The PACT 2023 conference, held over two enriching days from the 12th to the 13th of September, was a global gathering of experts and enthusiasts from various corners of the world, including Japan, Nigeria, and Melbourne, Australia. Attendees joined both physically and virtually to engage in insightful discussions and presentations.
The conference's theme, "Harnessing Emerging Technologies to Drive Sustainable Development in the 4th Industrial Revolution," resonated with our research objectives. It underscored the importance of leveraging cutting-edge technologies to address real-world challenges and drive positive change in society.
A Platform for Learning and Collaboration
Our participation in PACT 2023 was not only an opportunity to present our research findings but also a chance to connect with experts in the field. We engaged in meaningful conversations, exchanged ideas, and learned from the diverse contributions of fellow researchers. It was a testament to the collaborative spirit of the academic and scientific community.
