The Enterprise Medical Imaging Project is currently inviting applications for a "Student Developer" position. This paid role involves tasks such as drafting a Software Requirements Specification (SRS) document, installing and configuring a Radiological Information System (RIS) platform, and developing plugins to enhance its performance. Key Details:
  • Position: Student Developer
  • Duration: 2 months
  • Start Date: December 11, 2023
  • Location: University Teaching Hospitals Project Office
  • Remuneration: ZMW 8,000 (including Mobile Data and transport allowance to attend weekly project meetings)
Responsibilities:
  • Installation and Configuration:
    • Install and configure the Free and Open Source RIS platform on a Linux (Ubuntu) operating system
    • Ensure integration with existing systems (Picture Archiving and Communication System)
  • Extension and Development:
    • Extend RIS functionality to meet stakeholder requirements
    • Develop custom plugins for platform enhancement
  • Collaboration:
    • Work closely with a multidisciplinary team including radiologists, radiographers, and medical professionals
  • Documentation:
    • Draft the Software Requirements Specification (SRS) document
    • Document installation and configuration processes
    • Contribute to technical documentation
Qualifications:
  • Student Status:
    • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program at the University of Zambia with a focus on Information and Communication Technologies, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficient in Python, Java, and/or JavaScript
    • Familiarity with Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) development
    • Knowledge of database systems and server environments
  • Problem Solving:
    • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
  • Communication:
    • Excellent written and verbal communication
    • Collaborate with team members
  • Adaptability:
    • Willingness to learn and adapt
    • Team player
Preferred Skills:
  • Experience with healthcare information systems or radiological imaging software 
  • Previous exposure to the development and customization of open-source platforms
Remuneration:

ZMW 6,000 for the defined unit of work, plus Mobile Data and transport allowance
