The University of Zambia has been awarded a $20,000 grant by EIFL (Electronic Information for Libraries) under its Supporting No-Fee Open Access Publishing in Africa programme. The project, Improved Quality and Visibility of Diamond Open Access Journals: Building Institutional Support for Supporting Quality Diamond Open Access Journals at The University of Zambia, focuses on the Journal of Agricultural and Biomedical Sciences (JABS).
The project is led by Prof. Chisoni Mumba and Dr Lighton Phiri, and formally started with an inception meeting on November 18, 2024. The DataLab Research Group contributes technical work on journal metadata quality, indexing and repository integration through the new Diamond Open Access Journals project.
