Lighton Phiri Appointed Member of the Board of Directors for The Networked Digital Libraries of Theses and Dissertations

Lighton Phiri has been appointed to serve a two (2) year term, from January 2022 until December 2023, as a member of the Board of Directors [1] for Networked Digital Library Theses and Dissertations (NDLTD) [2]. The Board of Directors draws memberships from academics and professionals from around the world and is currently chaired by Prof. Suzie Allard [3].

Lighton's involvement with the NDLTD began is 2011, when he was a graduate student in the Digital Libraries Laboratory at The University of Cape Town. He was also part of the organising committee for the 14th International Symposium on Electronic Theses and Dissertations (ETD 2011) which was organised by the Digital Libraries Laboratory and hosted in Cape Town. Additionally, his close association with the NDLTD is strongly aligned with one of the core research focus areas in the DataLab Laboratory: Digital Libraries.

The Networked Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations (NDLTD) is an international organization dedicated to promoting the adoption, creation, use, dissemination, and preservation of electronic theses and dissertations (ETDs). The NDLTD supports electronic publishing and open access to scholarship in order to enhance the sharing of knowledge worldwide.
